| Family - Weekend Effect Marriage Encounter Community - Kids & Teens Included Cierra Houchins Here in Alaska, the teens have decided we will no longer be sitting around bored while our parents are having a Love Circle or ME Event. One day, aa Alaska Team Meeting was being held at our house. Mr. Gilberto and Mrs. Jennifer Pena were here from Oregon to train our parents about being a ME Team couple. Downstairs Asia and Joe Tunilla and I were sitting in the hallway talking. We started to talk about school and typical teen stuff. That’s when it hit us. Why sit around bored while our parents talk? Why don’t we start our own group? That’s when we said lets start a “ME Teen Encounter” The meeting was over and as people started to leave, we told our parents about our idea. They said go for it! A few week’s later the Tunnilas were hosting circle at their home, and Asia and I talked about ideas. Of course, our younger sibling’s were coming in and out of the room saying it wasn’t fair they couldn’t be in our group. We decided to start a “ME Kid’s Encounter” too. “ME Teen Encounter” is for ages 12-16 and Kid’s Encounter is for ages 11 and under. Our parents laughed and said we were a mini Shaharriet and Sherry. “ME Teen Encounter” is a place for ME teens to talk about what’s on our minds and get to know each other. We can dialogue on our feelings too! Our rule is that everything we talk about stays between us. Kid’s Encounter is a place for the ME kids to meet and play. They can watch movies and play games. For both kids and teens we will have everyone bring refreshments for the group just like our parents in Marriage Encounter. Our motto is: This isn’t just a Marriage Encounter group; we are a Marriage Encounter Community with Kids and Teens Included. The ME Teens also go to circle with our parents, and baby-sit during the meeting. We don’t mind going because this gives us a chance to hang out and talk and enjoy growing up as ME Kids and ME Teens! We have name badges too with ME TEEN or ME KID. At the end of circle our parents invite us to come and form an inner circle as they pray. I think it’s great to be a ME Teen! We are the Alaska ME Teen’s and Kid’s Encounter and WE LOVE IT!
