Subject: Our love

We are Charles & Mary Kimathi. We co-ordinate Kenya with Fr. Peter Gichure. We made our WWME weekend in June 1995 after having been married for 10 yrs. We got married on November 30, 1985 and have been blessed with 3 children - 2 girls aged 20 and 18 years and one boy aged 10 years.

Our original Marriage Encounter Weekend was the best thing that happened in our lives, to our family and our church. Our community is made up of 15 dioceses spread throughout Kenya. These are: Nairobi Urban, Nairobi Rural, Ngong, Muranga, Nyeri, Embu, Meru, Maral, Kakamega, Mombasa, Malindi, Kitui, Machakos and Military Dioceses.

We have many encountered couples spread throughout the 15 dioceses and we are still spreading the gospel. We currently have 103 Presenting Team couples and 32 Presenting Team Priests giving the Weekends throughout the Dioceses. Every Diocese has its own schedule of meetings for the Teams and other activities. We belong to the Archdiocese of Nairobi and we meet once a month in one of the couple’s homes to evaluate and share ourselves and sometimes we decide to meet in a hotel and have lunch and some fun and some out door activities.

We have just returned from an M.E Weekend -Lira -Kampala-Uganda. We have been trying to establish M.E in Uganda and it has taken rather long due to a few problems but we are almost winding up. We had gone three Teams and one Priest—ourselves, Felix and Winrose Mwangi, Samuel and Magdalene Thiga and Fr. Macharia. We teamed up with other Presenting Teams in Lira (whom we have workshopped 1st set and 2nd set talks) and one Priest. We gave an original Weekend which had 13 couples and 3 Priests. Felix and Winrose gave a Deeper Weekend which had 4 couples and one Priest.

Samuel and Magdalene did the workshopping of 6 couples who are struggling to to write 1st set and 2nd set talks. A group photo will be sent to you shortly.

We are grateful to all of you in America for the prayers and financial support you have offered us to be able to reach out to others. Special thanks go to Section 5 of USA, through Bob and Joy and Fr. Chuck. May God add you enough to spend and share out to the needy.

Continue to pray for us and our country of Kenya as we are going through tough economic and political times.

Thanks for your Love and Generosity and May God Bless You,

We Love you,
Charles & Mary Kimathi, Kenya National Team.
