| News - Local Fr. Jim Galvin Called Home Dan & Nancy Bashaw It is with great sadness that we send this announcement to you of the passing of Fr. James Galvin, CM, who died in his sleep on April 19, 2004 after returning home from the ME Priest Weekend in San Diego on April 16, 17, & 18. Fr. Galvin was born February 7, 1925 and was Ordained on May 20, 1951. His Funeral Mass was April 27, 2004, at San Roque Parish in Santa Barbara, California, and many Encountered Couples and Presenting Team Couples came from great distances to attend. Fr. Jim has been presenting Marriage Encounter Weekends in both English and Spanish and for over 20 years. He had served as part of the Section 11 Ecclesial Team in 1995 and was a presenting priest in Section 12 as well as presenting weekends in many areas across the country. He participated in many WWME Conventions and would never say "no" to presenting a Weekend. We remember him for always being willing to come and fill in for any priest who wouldn't leave his parish if they would just agree to make the Weekend. He presented our Original Weekend in September, 1990 and we were blessed to have presented his last English Weekend on March 12, 13, & 14, 2004 in LA East just before he died. On that weekend, he had recruited another Vincension Priest, Fr Binh Nguyen, to make the Weekend with us. We will miss Fr. Jim dearly, but know he has gone home to be with our Lord after many years of giving to Worldwide Marriage Encounter and serving all of us in many different and special ways.
