Bathed In His God’s Grace
For the longest time it had been our dream to bring the ME weekend
to Hispanic couples in South East Florida. Last year we received
a call from Roberto & Rocio Muñoz, area leaders for the
Anglo community in SE Florida. They told us there was a need to
have the Hispanic weekend in their area and that they now had the
support of the Bishop and the Family Life office. We now had a green
light and we wasted no time in getting together a team. The team
was composed of Eduardo & Silvia Aparicio from Florida, Frank
& Migdalia Fernandez from New Jersey and Carlos & Efrend
Garcia from Virginia. The priest was Father Juan Luis Calderon from
New Jersey.
There were many obstacles to overcome in opening a new area, but
that only strengthened our resolve. The need was there and we accepted
the challenge On March 11-13, 2005 Miami had its first ME weekend
in Spanish. It was a glorious weekend held at the Morning Star Renewal
Center. The weather was great with plenty of sunshine and clear
skies. It was as if God was smiling down on us. We felt cleansed
in God’s grace. Once again, sections 16 and 5 worked
closely together to take the ME weekend to a new area. We expect
many great things to come from Miami. We are already working on
building teams in that area. You will get to meet some of our SE
Florida couples at the Convention in July 8-10. We encourage all
section leaders to unite forces, wherever necessary, so that we
can continue with our mission of renewing the Church and changing
the world.
