Dialogue in the Pines
Mike & Dionne McCartney
On June 11, the Phoenix Encounter celebrated it annual 'Dialogue
in the Pines.' Every summer, Encountered couples from all over Arizona
gather in Flagstaff to 'beat the heat' as Flagstaff is generally
30 degrees cooler than Phoenix, Tucson, and Yuma. This year about
25 families came to have a picnic lunch together, visit, and dialogue
with each other. The presenters, and their 8 year old daughter who
read her letter and explained her drawing, challenged us to see
characteristics in our family members as gifts from God and family
members were asked to identify a gift that they see in themselves
and their family. Little ones were given crayons and unlined paper
and older kids were given pens and notebooks. Instructions on how
to do family dialogues were handed out and families were encouraged
to start dialogue traditions of their own.
