Sharing Circle at Sea

Wayne & Marcia Kessler

Early this year a couple in the Las Vegas community went on a cruise. While they were enjoying their time they thought about their community at home and how much fun it would be to have a Sharing Circle on a cruise. So they checked with their travel agent and presented the idea to the community. There was great response!

On Labor Day weekend, 11 couples embarked on a cruise for fun, laughter, community, dialogue, and sharing. The 11 couples traveled from Las Vegas to San Pedro, California to board the Monarch of the Seas, their vessel for the weekend. We arrived at different times and had time to explore the ship before we set sail. We left the dock at 5:30 PM on Friday and had our Sharing Circle at 6 PM. The cruise line arranged for a conference room to be set aside for the group to use for their sharing circle. The focus that night was about the gifts we saw in other couples. A dialogue followed and a great sharing took place as we watched the sunset over the Pacific Ocean.

The rest of the weekend was spent sharing good times as we sat by the pool, enjoying the food on board, taking some tours in Ensenada, Mexico, shopping and just plain enjoying each others company. Some tried some of the games on board, some tried and some succeeded at climbing the rock wall, some enjoyed the spa and massages and most just enjoyed the time away as a community. Our evening meal was a time to get together and recap the excitement of the day, then it was off to the lounges for games and dancing.

It was a great 4 days of community fun and fellowship, dialogue and sharing, eating and relaxing. It was decided to make it a regular event. We look forward to our next Sharing Circle at Sea.
