The Holy Spirit is Alive in the San Bernardino,
CA Community
Calvin & Katie DeHesa
Dear Lovers,
We hope everybody is doing well in the ME Community. We hope your
dialogue, relationships and passion for each other and this tremendous
ministry continues to be strong and vibrant. We just would like
to share with you a story about how the gift Community can really
set this ministry on fire.
Just this past weekend (Nov 10 - 12), we (San Bernardino Encounter,
California) celebrated our 4th full weekend, Praise God. On Friday
night we had 26 couples registered, 8 of those couples were from
LA West. The combined weekend went really well. Everyone came from
great distances and the weekend started on time, with everyone in
attendance.
What is amazing is that 26 couples from San Bernardino and LA West
signed up for the weekend and all 26 showed up Friday night. That
is a testament to the follow-up we conduct in San Bernardino with
the couples prior to them making the weekend. We call it an Information
Talk, but we will save that for next month's newsletter.
What we wanted to share with you was the amazing display of the
Holy Spirit working in our ME Community. On Sunday afternoon we
headed to the hotel to meet up with all the Prayer Couples to greet
our newly encountered couples. Running a little late like always,
we were floored to see all the beautiful families that were holding
flowers, candles, and gifts. What was amazing was that we discovered
that everyone of the newly encounter couples had a prayer couple
there. As we entered the hall to surprise and congratulate our couples,
the mood was joyous emotional and celebratory. Couples were crying
and hugging, smiling and hugging, laughing and having a good old
time; like they had been friends for a lifetime. And it seemed like
for some time that nobody was in rush to get home.
After the Love Tunnel or Greeting, we rushed off to the home of
David & Lupe Chavez, a local ME Community home for an Open House
(A dinner in honor of several of local encountered couples). The
local encountered couples were invited through a flyer that received
with their prayer letter on Sunday. At the Love Tunnel prayer couples
encourage the encountered couples to come to dinner to meet the
Community. We arrived at the Open House in good time, which means
that we were not last. Couples were pouring in one after another
with wonderful, smelling delightful creations. Chili beans, lasagna,
chicken, sweet potatoes, ribs, pasta, salad, fruit, spaghetti, pies,
cakes, food, food and more food. We had so much food that we had
no where to put it all.
As we were still pouring in, we decided to go around the kitchen
to introduce all of the couples. We shared with the couples when
they were encountered, how long they have been married, where they
attended church, there when they encountered their last passion
break... lol. As we finished introductions we stopped to give thanks
to God for all of his wonderful blessings, for all of his graces...
It was so beautiful... And then we ate, ate and ate.... and after
that we talked and ate... then we had desert and we ate again. Picture
about 18 to 20 kids screaming and running around, 13 Community couples
and 3 newly encountered couples ... It was like an early Thanksgiving
gift. It was truly amazing... and that is what you call the gift
of Community.
God Bless and Stay strong in God.
Love,
Calvin & Katie DeHesa
