“Have I Told You Lately That I Love
You?”
Bob & Janel Lange
Any couple fortunate enough to have enjoyed a relationship with
Father Greg Boisvert during his more than 25 years of service as
a M.E. presenting priest will fondly remember answering phone calls
from him, and hearing this wonderful greeting. Although Father Greg
stepped down from presenting weekends a couple of years ago, he
remained a tremendous champion of Matrimony. On December 16, 2006,
Fr. Greg died of complications from treatment for lymphoma.
He was a very young 83 years of age, and had continued to be active
in priestly ministry up to his last couple of months with us at
St. Dominic
Parish in Kingsport,
TN.

Father Greg Boisvert
Father Greg was born in Rhode
Island and joined the Assumptionists
at an early age. His early work was as a teacher of physics and
religion. Because he was a scientist and fluent in French,
he came to Northeast Tennessee more than thirty years ago to work
as a translator at Oakridge. East Tennessee was his home for the
remainder of his life.
From the time of his Deeper Weekend in January of 1980, Fr. Greg
was the backbone for Marriage Encounter in East Tennessee. In 1992,
he supported the community as it separated from the rest of Tennessee,
and became an area along the boundaries of the Diocese
of Knoxville. He served on the ecclesial team for the area,
as well as in leadership for Section
Five. He served for two years with Deacon Bob & Janel Lange
as the national coordinators for World
Priest Day. Fr. Greg delighted in having presented more than
one hundred Weekends across the United States. We have lost a great
supporter on earth, but we know he continues to cheer all of us
on as we continue in our quest of “The Dream.”
