WWME Great Community May 2007

Rafael & Brenda Sandoval y Fr. Carlos López Acosta

Like a great family, we celebrate many activities.

With much love and joy we want to share a little about our Worldwide Marriage Encounter New York Community. Like a great family, we celebrate many activities. February was one of the months when we could feel the love and closeness from each of our WWME families. First we had a series of talks called “Family Catechesis Nights.” We have had these once a month since November. It is very nice to see how many families came together for these: mothers, fathers, grandparents, and children. The day for fathers was a very happy day. It was wonderful to be united with about one hundred fathers wanting to learn to be better fathers for their children. The enthusiasm of our young people is also very contagious as we see the joy they have as they participate in their many activities. And, of course, we appreciate and love our priests, always ready to open the doors of their church and of their heart for WWME and all of our families. The celebration of World Marriage Day was a day full of many blessings and love. It was a bit like returning to the day of our wedding to hear the heartfelt words of our dear Father John. And soon thereafter we enjoyed the wedding cake and the music. It was all a perfect way to celebrate such a precious day. It was special to meet all the Encountered Couples, different in the length of time they had been married, but united in their love and blessings for our community.

Recently, living our Lenten journey and Holy Week was touching. We were filled with love seeing dozens of young men in a Lenten Retreat. And it was wonderful to finish the Easter Vigil with the same love and blessings as when Lent started.

To share our community with you fills us with a feeling of joy. It is a joy like being held closely by our mother. If we gave our joy a color it would be like the colors of the rainbow, with multiple tones and intensities. It is a joy like drinking hot coffee in the cold of a New York winter’s day. And on the scale of 1-10, it would be a perfect 10!

Love,
Rafael & Brenda Sandoval y Fr. Carlos López Acosta
