News of 2007 Outreach Programs in Fiji
Epeli & Rosalia Nauqe
The WWME movement in Fiji is again on the roll in this year’s
program for Marriage Encounter for couples and Priests. One of the
main highlights was the OUTREACH Programs to two parishes that were
overwhelming experiences. This is especially true when we have to
travel to the interior of the country where the outreach has to
be implanted.
The two parishes are St. Peter Parish and Our Lady of Hope Parish
and they are located at quiet a remote place in the interior of
Viti Levu, the largest island of Fiji. The implant of the WWME took
a month, with two original Weekends held together in the respected
parishes. These parishes are such that have village set-up and strong
cultural values where men are the dominant factor. It was a bit
of a challenge at the first day, but as the days went by, the graces
of God were able to touch the couples as seen in their closeness
to each other.

Most Weekends are held at parish schools as we don't have the luxury
or funds to hire hotels. Dialogue couples were in charge of the
catering for the respective Weekends and were from sister parishes
of ST. Vincent De Paul parish and Our Lady of Fatima parish.
It was a rewarding experience to witness the couples recapturing
that "spark" again in their relationships. The team couples/priest
were; Fr. Macverry, Fr. Turagakacivi, Wani & Nia Madigibuli,
Jo & Loma, Semi & Sisi, Wani & Lusi, Etonia & Elenora,
Poasa & Asilika, Epeli & Rosalia.
The Bridging Weekends continue through the months of June and July
and the deeper Weekends are scheduled for next year. There are Weekends
scheduled for other parishes for the second half of the year. Our
Sacramental Weekend will be held this week with Fr. Macverry and
Mr. & Mrs. Madigibuli hosting the couples.
As usual we ask for you prayers and please do offer masses for
us. The WWME meeting for the Oceania region will be held in Fiji
in October this year.
WE LOVE YOU ALL, BYE FOR NOW FROM THE FIJI ISLANDS, NI SA MOCE!!
