Dearest WWME Family,

We, Ed & Pat Lavender, were married on June 26, 1965. In our 13th year of marriage, we made our Marriage Encounter Weekend on March 3-5, 1978 in Philadelphia. We have 3 married children. They are Terri (age 38) married to Michael Waterman, Sharon (age 36) married to John Cervino, and Ed (age 35) married to Dena. We also have 5 grandchildren - Jessica, 4 1/2, Jack, 4, Joey, 3, Nicholas, 2 1/2 and Andrew 3 months. We live in Thornton, PA.

We have been selected to coordinate Section 3, which includes areas in the states of PA, DE, eastern MD and NJ.

We shared with those at our selection process that what drives us is living God's plan for us and making a difference in the lives of others. In Marriage Encounter, we do this through our commitment to the Mission Statement. We have been presenting Weekends for the past 26 years, so that is an obvious value to us. We are also very passionate about the second part of the Mission Statement, which is to provide community support for those who have made the Weekend. To this end we hope to encourage a commitment to enriching communities by presenting community weekends, such as The EEE Weekend, The Presence Weekend, The Sunday Night Couple Weekend, The Grace Weekend, and The 5 Languages of Love Experience. We also hope to encourage communities to commit to being FAMIS communities. FAMIS stands for Fun, Accountability, Mission, Intimacy and Spirituality. These are the 5 characteristics of a true Christian community. Our experience has shown us that Marriage Encounter is alive and growing in communities that strive to live out these 5 characteristics.

We look forward to the challenges and blessings of the next 2 years with the hope of renewing our church, increasing the number and size of our Weekends, and enriching our communities in every way we can.

Thank you and God bless you.
Ed and Pat Lavender
